Protecting Our Oceans with ASC Certification

🌊 World Oceans Day: Protecting Our Oceans with ASC Certification 🌊
This past June 8th, on World Oceans Day, we highlighted the essential work of ASC certification and the impact of sustainable aquaculture on ocean conservation.
If you care about our planet, biodiversity, and living beings, you should read this.
The ocean, which covers more than 70% of the Earth’s surface, produces at least half of the planet’s oxygen and absorbs around 30% of the carbon dioxide generated by humans. It is home to the majority of the world’s biodiversity, and 3 billion people worldwide depend on it for their livelihoods.
However, harmful practices like overfishing are negatively impacting our oceans—and we urgently need to protect them. One of the best ways to do this is through sustainable aquaculture methods and close monitoring with ASC.
🌎 What is ASC Certification?
The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is a leading certification and labelling program for responsibly farmed seafood.
When you see the green ASC logo on a product, it means it comes from a farm that meets strict environmental and social standards. The program emphasizes environmental responsibility, social accountability, and animal welfare.
Farms must prove they minimize their impact on the surrounding environment, protect water resources, and ensure the health and safety of workers and local communities.
By choosing ASC-certified products, consumers play a vital role in supporting sustainable aquaculture practices. This not only helps reduce pressure on wild fish populations but also promotes the health of marine habitats.
The ASC label ensures that what we consume is produced in a way that respects the natural environment and contributes to the preservation of our oceans.
🌍 A Collective Effort for a Sustainable Future
World Oceans Day reminds us of our shared responsibility to protect and preserve our oceans.
ASC’s mission aligns with this goal, advocating for practices that ensure the long-term health and viability of marine ecosystems. It’s up to us to commit to sustainable choices that benefit our oceans—and the planet as a whole.
